If you see us above the timberline, bent over in the snow, it may be that we’re memorizing the glorious sight of watermelon snow. Caused by the presence of algal cells of chlorophyta, watermelon colored snow is a curiosity seen in the Sierra Nevadas and other high, cold places around the world. If asked, we'd likely tell you not just how it looked, but also how we felt about the experience.
