A great story is one of the most powerful forces in the Universe. Stories move us to tears, motivate us to take action, lead us to love as well as war. The Great Books Foundation is an independent nonprofit education organization with a mission to help people think and share ideas through reading and discussing great stories.
When I was in elementary school my mother and her friends volunteered their time and lead Junior Great Books clubs in my school. It not only enhanced my love of books and stories but developed my critical thinking skills and taught me to constructively argue my opinion.
“Out of the box” programs like Junior Great books are still sorely needed in our schools. Teachers and parents are doing all they can but there is just not enough time in the school day to teach our children everything they need. Supplemental programs can make all of the difference.
I am asking you to support my project, Gold Minds (www.goldforbooks.org) which is a drive to recycle old gold jewelry in support of Junior Great Books Foundation. greenKarat.com has graciously agreed to accept donations of unwanted jewelry that will be used in making new rings. They will donate 80% of the market value of the gold directly to Gold Minds at The Great Books Foundation, a 501c(3) nonprofit organization.
